It is a good book. It keeps you interest from the beginning. One does have to remember the time in which it is written for the language.
Very good reading. I am from new England and know of the location mentioned. This book is also a quick read.
The story line was acceptable but was written for about a ten year old. Most adults would find it trite. The plot was interesting.
If you enjoy period piece writing and classic stories from the period it is a charmer. As a reader of such i enjoyed it but to read expecting a decent plot or any thing but surface writing don't bother picking it up.
Enjoyable as a look at archaic fiction for teenage boys.
